Police Didi is a public-service initiative developed for the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate to make police assistance more accessible to passengers at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata. Airports can be stressful places, particularly when a passenger faces harassment, theft, lost baggage, or another serious concern. The challenge was to create a clear and dependable reporting system that could connect passengers directly with the appropriate police authority without adding further confusion to an already difficult situation.
Interactive digital kiosks were installed at the airport’s arrival and departure gates. Through a simple interface, passengers could report an incident, provide the necessary details, and submit their grievance directly to the Deputy Commissioner, Airport Division, Bidhannagar. After registering the complaint, the passenger received an email acknowledgment with a unique reference number, creating a structured process for tracking and follow-up. The campaign’s identity presented Police Didi as approachable, reassuring, and dependable. The mascot gave the service a human face, while the interface used clear instructions and an accessible complaint flow to help passengers navigate the system with confidence.
The project translated a formal police procedure into a more approachable digital experience. It supported the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate’s wider effort to improve public access, strengthen accountability, and provide passengers with a reliable point of assistance inside the airport.
